Dream Scottish island looking for Scots to relocate with salaries of up to £128k
An idyllic Scottish island is currently looking for people to relocate for work, with salaries of up to £128,000.
At the moment, NHS Scotland is seeking to hire a number of people in a range of different roles on the Isle of Lewis. Home to dramatic landscapes and a wealth of charming villages, the island jobs could offer the perfect escape from the rat race for those looking to embrace a healthier work-life balance.
The main settlement on Lewis is Stornoway, where many of the jobs advertised by NHS Scotland are based. The biggest town in the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway features an abundance of independent shops and restaurants that serve up freshly caught fish.
The highest-paying of the positions advertised on employment site HiJOBS is a Locum Consultant in Paediatrics, with a starting salary of between £96,963 and £128,841. Based in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, the role “offers a unique opportunity to combine modern and progressive clinical practice with a lifestyle that is difficult to match”.
The job will see the successful applicant working 40 hours per week for a fixed-term contract of 12 months. As well as a high salary, a Distant Island Allowance of £1,279 is also included.
Elsewhere, NHS Scotland is also hiring a Community Nurse to provide nursing care to people in their own homes on Lewis. Ideally suited to applicants looking to develop their nursing skills and knowledge within a community setting, the role pays between £30,229 and £37,664 in addition to the Distant Island Allowance.
Other roles available include a Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Microbiology and a Substance Misuse CPN, with starting salaries of £37,831 to £46,100 and £37,831 to £46,100 respectively. The former job will involve working in Western Isles Hospital’s laboratory, while the latter will see the successful candidate help patients address and promote recovery from substance and mental health issues.
When you are not working, there is a treasure trove of things to see and do all over Lewis in your free time. Among its must-visit attractions are the ancient Calanais Standing Stones, the fascinating Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, and of course the various picturesque sandy beaches.
