Duk agent seeks Aberdeen exit as Dons warned over fee after ‘passed up’ offers

Duk expects to leave Aberdeen this summer after his agent revealed the club “passed up” multiple offers for the star.

The attacker had a difficult time last season under Barry Robson and Neil Warnock with both managers playing him out of his preferred position where he’d banged in the goals in his maiden campaign. The Cape Verde international spent most of his time on the bench with just seven goals and five assists in all competitions.

That was compared to the 18 goals and six assists from the previous season which catapulted the playmaker into the public eye and had a vast number of scouts from around Europe monitoring his progress.

The player’s agent, Carlos Oliveira, has confirmed exclusively to Football Scotland that the 24-year-old still has suitors hoping to sign him up after the Dons rejected deals from the likes of Young Boys back in January and other clubs last year.

Oliveira – who also represents former Rangers loanee Fabio Silva – did, however, explain how the player does not want Aberdeen to walk away from their partnership with nothing and would prefer they earned cash on him as his deal only runs for one more year.

Is there transfer interest in Duk right now? “Yes, a lot since the end of the first season,” Oliveira revealed. “This January, despite being a bad season, it wasn’t Duk’s fault. Who scores 18 goals playing in his position up front, then this season they put him on the wings? He’ll have to leave this summer.”

The Dons would require a fee, to which Oliveira added: “Aberdeen will have to realise that they passed up excellent offers in the summer of 2023 and January 2024.

“Duk will have one more year on his contract and in January 2025 he can sign as a free player. We don’t want to do that, we’re grateful to Aberdeen but they’ll have to be flexible. It wasn’t just Young Boys (who were interested earlier this year). Several teams wanted Duk but Aberdeen rejected everything.”
