Eerie picture of Scots loch with ‘Grim Reaper’ hidden in image
A photographer who stopped to take a photo of a loch because it looked “eerie” discovered something spooky hidden within the image.
Martin O’Brien had been at the Kilbowie Outdoor Centre in Oban back in October 2020, just weeks before the adventure site was closed.
Heading home, he chose to go via Balquhidder, with the road taking him past Loch Lubnaig in Stirlingshire.
Glancing at the still water as he drove, Martin felt there was something chilling about the beauty spot and decided to pull in to take some photos.
After arriving home and reviewing the photos, the snapper noticed the reflection of the hills and trees overlooking the loch bore an uncanny resemblance of the Grim Reaper.
Speaking about the spooky photo, he said: “As I was going past Loch Lubnaig I was drawn to how still and eerie the water looked. I decided to go into the car park to take pics just as they were closing.
“I never realised what I’d snapped until I was making a folder up to put on Facebook of my day out.”
“I noticed the skull first and then realised that I could see the vertebrae. Then I clocked that it had a cloak and it looked like the Grim Reaper.”
Curious to find out if others could spot the same eerie figure, Martin posted the photo on Facebook.
The response was swift, with many commenting on the “spooky” nature of the image and agreeing that the angel of death was visible, especially when the photo was viewed sideways.
Some users immediately identified the skull and vertebrae, with one person adding: “Once you’ve seen it you can’t unsee it.”
