England or Spain – who is going to win the Euro 2024 final? Our experts make their predictions

England face Spain in the European Championship final on Sunday with Gareth Southgate’s side one win away from history.

Spain have been the form team at the tournament, however, and will present more than a tough challenge.

Telegraph Sport’s experts predict who will be lifting the trophy on Sunday night.

Oliver Brown

I would not be at all averse to being proved wrong here. But having attended both semi-finals, Spain’s superiority in pace, width and control seems mightily difficult for England to overcome. Rodri is the master choreographer, Lamine Yamal the lightning game-changer of a winger. England lack any direct equivalents.

Sam Wallace

Spain 1 England 3
This will be a gruelling game and England will have to get used to working without the ball. But if they can master those early stages, they have shown that they can grow stronger the longer the game goes on. The substitutes will be crucial. Southgate got them right in the semi-final.

Mike McGrath

Spain 0 England 2
England have momentum even if they are running on empty. Their quality will be enough to get them through this, as well as their experience of being in a final. Their system will suit playing the Spanish.

Luke Edwards

Spain 1 England 0
I want to say that England are going to win but Spain have looked like the best side in Germany by some distance. I can’t shift away from the conclusion that, just as they did in the Women’s World Cup final last year, the Spanish are going to edge a tight game.

Thom Gibbs

Spain 2 England 3
Continuing two recent themes: fun finals to international tournaments and England somehow finding a way to win. England have improved with every knockout game, albeit from a low base and while Spain have looked the best team they are hardly unbeatable, Germany came close. Do not rule out Gareth Southgate’s ability to neutralise attacks. Spain will create chances but so should England.

Sam Dean

Spain 2 England 0
I take no pleasure in saying this but Spain are simply a better team, with more offensive weapons at their disposal and a more cohesive attacking strategy. They play like a club team and England, for all the character they have shown, do not.

Daniel Zeqiri

Spain 2 England 1
England play games on fine margins and are due one going against them. Spain’s kryptonite is the fast counterattack but England do not have the profile of attacker to execute that strategy. They need the ball, but how much of it will they get? Spain are not impregnable but might just wear Gareth Southgate’s team down.
