Ex-addict footballer is face of internet gambling firm

A former Scotland football captain and recovering gambling addict is employed as an ambassador for a company that markets internet bookmakers.

Colin Hendry, who blamed gambling for contributing to his bankruptcy, has become the face of Matching Visions, a business that helps to send new customers to gaming websites.

Addiction experts condemned the company for employing a man with a history of drinking and betting.

Last year Hendry, 50, was banned from driving for having almost twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. In 2010, he was declared bankrupt with debts of more than £2 million owed to the taxman, family, friends and Spreadex, an online betting firm.
