Exact date Scotland set for ’23C temps as heat rivals holiday destinations

SCOTS are set to bask in temperatures as high as 23C next week after a miserable month of June so far.

The sun has finally woken up just in time for the school holidays as a minor heatwave makes it way across the country.

People in Edinburgh will enjoy 23C heat on Monday – comparable to renowned sunshine hot spots like Barcelona, Madeira and Florence.

Glasgow is projected to be just below the capital’s benchmark at 22C while Aberdeen is forecast at 21C.

Unfortunately the good weather isn’t likely to last very long.

According to weather man Sean Batty, low pressure will come in from the Atlantic by the end of next week with rain and temperatures back into the teens.

He said: “Temperatures over the coming days may hit 20C in inland parts of Easter Ross, Moray, Aberdeenshire, Angus and the Lothians.

“It’s next week when the warmest conditions arrive and this could see temperatures hit the mid-20s in some spots, which I reckon is most likely around Stirlingshire, Lanarkshire and the Glasgow area.

“While it would be lovely to tell you this will last all the way through the school holidays, it won’t, and may not even last into next weekend never mind into July.

“The definition of a heatwave in Scotland requires three consecutive days where temperatures are 25C or above – so there’s no certainty.

“Even though there’s good agreement across our computer models of a major heat up next week, there’s also decent agreement that low pressure will come in from the Atlantic by the end of next week with rain and temperatures back into the teens.”

For those heading to Stuttgart for Scotland’s third Euro 2024 match against Hungary, it’s a similar story.

Thundery showers are expected tomorrow in the German city, although there are better prospects on match day come Sunday.

It will see a drizzly start with sunshine coming through in the afternoon, with temperatures reaching 21C or 22C.
