Five things to do this week in Scotland: from festivals to Grayson Perry’s best art
A fleet of dozens of stunning ships, such as the Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Dar Mlodziezy, Tenacious and Fryderyk Chopin, will arrive in Lerwick Harbour next week as they take a short break from the race, which takes more than a month. To celebrate the vessels’ time in this natural harbour, the islanders are laying on a programme of events that offers everything from live music, food and drink to sports, storytelling, beach walks, treasure hunts and crafts. The race started in the Netherlands in late June, then called in at Hartlepool and Norway. The competitors are allowed to take it easy on the leg from Norway to Shetland, but get serious again when returning to Norway next weekend.
