The top rankings for the Pastry Awards 2024 have been revealed by La Liste.

Top pastries around the globe have been judged by the guide that prides itself on recognising the best hotels and eateries across the globe.

In La Liste’s guide, 25 patisseries and bakeries were recognised within 10 special categories.

The categories range from Most Creative Chef to Discovery Gem.

The list looked at the best pastry shops, bakeries, coffee shops, afternoon teas, and dessert restaurants from over 80 countries.

And one bakery in Edinburgh was one of the eateries that scooped a top gong in the list.

Lannan Bakery, in the Stockbridge area of the city, was one of the winners of the Pastry Opening of the Year Award.

It was praised for its signature Lannan apple pie and custard as well as its rhubarb, custard and almond cake.

Owner Darcie Maher said it is “an honour” to get the award after it only opened its doors for the first time less than a year ago.

Speaking to The Scotsman, she said: “Having been open for less than a year, it’s an honour to receive the award from La Liste for best pastry opening of the year.

“My lifelong dream has been to own my own bakery and Lannan has surpassed anything I imagined it would be.

“To have the recognition cements all the relentless hard work that’s gone into every aspect of the bakery up until this point.”

As well as its top 25 categories, La Liste also noted 3,000 pastry providers that it considers to be among the best of the best across the globe.
