Giants QB Drew Lock exits preseason opener with hip injury

Giants quarterback Drew Lock exited Thursday’s preseason opener against the Detroit Lions in the first quarter with a hip injury.

Lock sustained the injury with 2:30 to play in the first quarter on New York‘s fourth offensive possession. He had been hit several times in the game and sacked once.

Tommy DeVito entered for Lock, who New York said was questionable to return.

Before leaving with the injury, Lock completed four of his 10 attempts for 17 yards and an interception. The former second-round draft pick did have 12 yards on a pair of scrambles. Big Blue’s offense had two three-and-outs and managed just three first downs in his four drives.

Daniel Jones, along with several other of the Giants starters, did not play in the game.
