Giants signing offensive lineman Greg Van Roten

The Giants are bolstering their offensive line, signing veteran guard Greg Van Roten, head coach Brian Daboll told reporters.

In a corresponding move, cornerback Aaron Robinson was released.

Adding Van Roten is the latest shakeup for the line, following the move of Jermaine Eluemunor from guard to right tackle last week.

The Giants painted that move as temporary, but it seemed telling given the struggles of Evan Neal the last two seasons and his placement on the PUP list to start training camp.

As far as Van Roten, the 34-year-old native of Rockville Centre, NY has played for the Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, Jets, Buffalo Bills, and Las Vegas Raiders during his nine years in the NFL.

He started all 17 games last season for the Raiders.

Van Roten figures to start for the Giants, with the rest of the line likely featuring left tackle Andrew Thomas, center John Michael Schmitz, Jon Runyan Jr., and Eluemunor at right tackle.
