Gourock singer songwriter hopes song about Scotland will become Euros anthem
AN Inverclyde singer songwriter has released a song which he hopes will become an ‘unofficial Euros anthem’.
Joe McMahon penned his track Bonnie Scotland when he was on a songwriting course in Glasgow last year.
Joe says the song is for anyone who is hopeful – or fearful – about Scotland’s chances in the football tournament.
He said: “I’ve sent it to my pals who are out there in Germany just now, so hopefully they can start singing it when they’re over there and get a tune going!
“Scotland is always described using polar opposites – it’s either gritty or green fields.
“I wrote it as a jokey song and was really pleased with the lyrics.”
The track was produced, recorded, and mixed at Gran’s House Studio and features musicians Angus Lyon and Anna Massie.
