Green Home Systems celebrates Scotland Energy Efficiency Awards win
Ayrshire-based Green Home Systems has triumphed at the 2024 Scotland Energy Efficiency Awards with a raft of accolades.
The energy efficiency specialist won the ‘Small Scale Project of the Year’ award at a glittering ceremony held in Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza, and received five commendations for its work in various categories.
A judging panel selected Green Home Systems as a winner in recognition of its exemplary work with the Carbon Neutral Islands Project on the island of Cumbrae. The project involved successful delivery of retrofit at Millport Bowling Club and Millport Golf Club, as well as two island churches.
These initiatives are integral to Cumbrae’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and community resilience. The Carbon Neutral Islands project is part of a wider government-supported initiative across six islands (Cumbrae, Barra, Hoy, Islay, Raasay and Yell) to help them adapt and become more resilient to the effects of climate change.
Green Home Systems was also highly commended in the ‘Insulation & Fabric Installer and Contractor’ category; and commended in three more categories – ‘Large Scale Project’ and ‘Housing Association or Landlord’ for its work with Trust Housing Association on Arran; and ‘Council or Local Authority’ for its ECO work with North Ayrshire Council.
Alastair Macphie, managing director of Green Home Systems, said: “Receiving the top prize for our work on this landmark initiative in Cumbrae is a truly fantastic moment, and is testament to the hard work and dedication of our amazing teams.
“The Carbon Neutral Islands Project is truly inspiring and we are proud to be a part of the island’s transition to greener energy solutions. By improving energy efficiency, we are not only reducing carbon footprints but also helping the community save on their energy bills.
“Having this topped off with additional commendations for our other projects, from housing association to local authority work, is the icing on the cake. We’re immensely proud of the work we’re undertaking to help householders on their journeys towards energy efficiency and sustainability.”
The Scotland Energy Efficiency Awards 2024 celebrated outstanding achievements in the energy efficiency sector. The event, marking its 10th anniversary, was attended by 280 industry leaders from across Scotland.
Kenneth Campbell, the event organiser, added: “All our winners and nominees are at the sharp end of the industry, and they thoroughly deserve the recognition they receive at our awards.”
