Heart charity signs up to charity retailer Gift Card – Scottish Business News

CHEST Heart & Stroke Scotland is now accepting The Charity Shop Gift Card — the only nationally accepted, multi-retailer gift card that can be spent exclusively in charity shops.

The Charity Shop Gift Card is a not-for-profit that has been developed and launched in alliance with the Charity Retail Association. It helps national and regional charities boost their own income by giving them an opportunity to tap into the £7 billion-a-year gift card market.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is now selling and accepting the gift card in its 40 shops. CHSS is Scotland’s largest health charity, supporting the 1 in 5 people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live life to the full.

The gift card for good is accepted by regional and national charities including Salvation Army, Marie Curie, Shelter, and many more.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is the second Scottish charity to sign up to the scheme. The Charity Shop Gift Card is delighted to expand its mission further across Scotland, generating more funds for local communities.

The scheme supports the growing second-hand revolution, which is helping to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and lessen the burden upon councils. Charity shops alone save councils £31 million a year in waste disposal chargers by diverting 339,000 tonnes of textiles away from landfill; helping both the environment and council funding.

Billy Farrell, Income Generation Director for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to introduce The Charity Shop Gift Card into our stores as an exciting way for our customers to not only help us and our cause but also help them to live more consciously.”

Lee Fellows, Co-founder of The Charity Shop Gift Card, said: “At the Charity Shop Gift Card, we are delighted to be able to expand our network further in Scotland with the addition of Chest Heart &Stroke Scotland which will provide Scottish residents with significantly more shops to spend their cards, benefitting another fantastic charity.”

CHSS is Scotland’s largest volunteering organisation with over 4000 volunteers who help to deliver services, run 39 charity shops across Scotland, and raise vital funds to ensure people with our conditions can live life to the full.
