Hibs Scottish Cup legend David Gray ‘offered permanent manager gig at Easter Road’
Hibs legend David Gray is understood to have been offered the managerial job on a permanent basis after impressing Easter Road bosses during his interim stand-in spell.
The Scottish Cup winning former player took over the reins at the Leith club after Nick Montgomery was sacked following a disastrous spell in the Scottish Premiership.
Montgomery had only been in the job for eight months when the axe fell and now Gray steps up at a time when the Edinburgh side face a lot of pressure from fans to get the next appointment right, the Daily Record reports.

Gray earned his place in the Leith club’s folklore when he headed home the winning goal in the 2016 Scottish Cup final against Rangers to end over a century of hurt in the famous competition.
And now, according to the Scottish Sun, sporting director Malky Mackay has identified him as the many to lead the club next season.

The former defender retired from playing a couple of years ago and was part of the club’s coaching staff but has been interim boss on four occasions.
He has never hidden his desire to be a boss in his own right and this could now be his big chance. He said last month: “I’m not shying away from it.

“I believe I can do it. I’ve demonstrated I can.
“Ultimately it’s what the club want to do moving forward. If they feel I’m ready to do it and they want me to do it that’s a decision they can make.”
