Hop on the tram to Scotland’s biggest agricultural show

Scotland’s largest celebration of rural life is set to return to Edinburgh next week, and the city’s popular tram has once again joined forces with organisers to help visitors make the most of the event.

A striking new ‘tram wrap’ featuring some key attractions at the 202nd Royal Highland Show has become a familiar sight on the streets of the city, while Edinburgh Tram has put plans in place to offer an easy and convenient way to travel to and from the showground.

Services will run from every seven minutes throughout the day between Edinburgh Airport and Newhaven, with the Ingliston Park & Ride stop a 10-15-minute walk from the venue’s south entrance.

Alternatively, a free shuttle bus service for tram customers will link the park & ride site with the east gate of the Royal Highland Centre. Further information about other transport options can be found here.

Sarah Singh, Edinburgh Trams’ Head of Service Delivery, commented:

We’re delighted to be able to support the show’s organisers again this year while ensuring people can attend a fantastic array of rural activities and exhibitions with as little fuss as possible.

We’re certain this new tram wrap has already received plenty of attention across the city, proving there is truly something for everyone at the Royal Highland Show.

Families and groups travelling together can benefit from Edinburgh Trams’ popular ‘Family Day Tripper Ticket’, which costs only £8 and offers unlimited travel for up to two adults and three children, between Ingliston Park & Ride and Newhaven. More information can be found on edinburghticket.com.

The Royal Highland Show will take place on June 20 – 23, and tickets can be purchased here. Anyone heading for the Royal Highland Hoolie can also be sure of convenient travel back home or to their accommodation, with the last tram departing Ingliston Park & Ride toward Newhaven at 2300 (only on the days when Hoolie takes to the stage).
