UConn:
The Huskies extended their winning streak to five games after Tuesday’s thrilling 94-89 overtime victory over the Xavier Musketeers. Sophomore guard Solo Ball led the charge with a career-high 22 points. He was one of three Huskies to score at least 20 points in the win. Tarris Reed Jr. contributed 20 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, and four blocks, marking his fifth double-double of the season. The junior center, who transferred to UConn after spending his first two years at Michigan, has been a strong addition to the roster. Reed Jr. currently leads the Big East in rebounding with 8.4 per game.
Butler:
After opening the season 7-1, the Bulldogs are currently on a four-game losing streak heading into Saturday’s matchup. Three of those losses have come against ranked opponents (No. 17 Houston, No. 20 Wisconsin, No. 9 Marquette), but the Bulldogs are determined to find their footing and earn their first win in program history against No. 11 UConn.
Fifth-year forward Jahmyl Telfort and senior Pierre Brooks II have been the team’s leading scorers. Telfort tops the team with 16.2 points per game, while Brooks ranks second with 15.2 points per game.
