Huge fire breaks out near The O2 after ‘loud bangs and explosions’ as filming takes place
A fire has erupted near The O2 arena sending thick black smoke into the air.
Witnesses described seeing “the biggest explosion they’ve ever seen” from their home as emergency services arrived at the scene at around 8pm on Saturday.
The London Fire Brigade said firefighters were responding to reports of a fire near Dock Road in Silvertown, explaining that it would soon provide further details.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police said on X that it was aware of reports of explosions being heard in the vicinity of the O2 in Greenwich.They added: “This was part of a pre-planned filming event in the Canning Town #E16 area. There is no risk to the public.”
