Is Robertson fit to play for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest this weekend?

Jurgen Klopp will again be without one of his key stars for Liverpool’s return to Premier League action against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Andy Robertson, who has scored one goal in eight league appearances this season, suffered a shoulder injury during the international break.

Robertson went off injured during Scotland’s 2-0 European Championship qualifying defeat to Spain.

The defender cradled his right arm in his shirt as he was guided off the pitch and he has since missed two games for Liverpool.

Robertson will miss the game against Nottingham Forest as he gets set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Klopp confirmed on Wednesday that the left-back has undergone surgery on his shoulder.

The Liverpool boss said: “He’s had his surgery and it all went well, as good as it could be.

“We don’t know how long it will take but the first step is done.”

The news will come as a huge blow to Liverpool, with Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas instead tasking with coming in for Robertson.

But Tsimikas has flattered to deceive this season in the Europa League and was directly at fault for Leicester’s opener at Anfield in Liverpool’s 3-1 Carabao Cup comeback win last month.

This may open the door for Joe Gomez to start at left-back instead, where he first broke into the Liverpool team under Brendan Rodgers.

19-year-old Luke Chambers is another option having started Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Toulouse at Anfield on Thursday.
