Jacob Trouba ‘Very Clear’ On Where he Stands With Rangers General Manager

The New York Rangers and Jacob Trouba may have had their issues during the offseason, but Chris Drury is looking to turn the page.

There were discussions this summer about Jacob Trouba potentially getting traded, even one rumor stating that a deal involving Trouba to the Red Wings was reportedly in the works.

Training camp officially starts on Wednesday though and Trouba remains a member of the Rangers.

Drury knows what Trouba brings to the table and feels that everything that went down is just water under the bridge.

“Jacob and I talk all the time, as GM and captain should. I would even include Lavi in those conversations,” Drury said via The New York Post’s Mollie Walker. “Obviously, being captain, he runs our dressing room and is head of the leadership group. We’ve had a number of different conversations over the course of the summer, on a lot of different things.

“He is very clear as to where he stands with me and what I think of him as a player and as a leader. I think he’s done a real good job here. As a captain, there’s so many moving parts that go in and out of being captain, especially in New York and especially the Rangers captain. Excited to have him back, excited for training camp. I know he had a terrific offseason, training wise.”

While Trouba may not be the same player in terms of his production on the ice as he continues to age, his leadership qualities are undeniable.

Being the captain of a team like the Rangers is no easy task, and Trouba holds that responsibility with pride and the utmost honor.

The Rangers have built a Stanley Cup contender over the past few seasons. It’s been Trouba who has helped establish that winning culture in New York.

Withstanding all of the trade rumors, Trouba will continue to be the captain the Rangers need to help lead the team to their ultimate goal of a Stanley Cup.
