Kyogo Celtic transfer bid not landed as Urawa Red Diamonds consider summer swoop
Celtic are yet to receive an official approach from Urawa Red Diamonds for Kyogo, Football Scotland understands.
The 29-year-old is reportedly being lined up for what would be a shock return to his home country with the Hoops in a strong position to demand a mega sum of cash. URD are now believed to be one of if not the richest clubs in Japan and would, indeed, have money to spend and they have identified Kyogo as their ideal candidate for the striker spot. The record fee spent in the country is £10million but they’d have to smash through that to land their target.
The player still has three years left on his deal at Parkhead and that puts Celts in a position of power knowing they can hang onto their hitman if their asking price is not met.
A source has indicated to Football Scotland that nothing concrete has yet been tabled for the fan favourite who has smashed in 75 goals over his three years in Glasgow.
Diamonds do, however, have a good relationship with the Scottish champions having previously held discussions over a move for Giorgos Giakoumakis back in 2023.
A deal was agreed between both parties but the Greek striker opted for a move to Atlanta in the MLS.
