Labour and the SNP must work together for green revolution in Scotland

The early visit to Scotland from Sir Keir Starmer, the lack of drama or mischievous media briefing and the reportedly good relations between the first minister, John Swinney, and new prime minister seem almost miraculous when compared with the petty partisanship of Liz Truss and Boris Johnson.

Yet to allow the poor behaviour of UK governments past to set the bar so low for the new one that a calm, considered and mutually respectful conversation can be considered a major achievement, would be a mistake.

Such a conversation is a good and welcome start but as ever in Scottish politics, the relationship between Holyrood and Westminster is a journey not an event.
