Laine Is Loving His Time In Montreal “Most Fun I’ve Had In Years”

What a story Patrik Laine has become since he was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens.

When he was traded to the Canadiens, he was dealing with personal matters that kept him in the NHLPA assistance program. However, when he was cleared, he had a new beginning in Montreal.

Laine seemed to be excited about the new opportunity; unfortunately, early in a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, he was hit knee-on-knee by Cedric Pare, and that left him out of action for months.

He was cleared to play and returned to action on Dec. 4 against the New York Islanders, and it has been a storybook return for him ever since.

He was able to find the back of the net in this Habs debut and since then has scored three goals and one assist in four games.

He was asked about it after the Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks game on Prime Monday.

“I think it’s the most fun I’ve had in years.”

As my colleague Jason Newland pointed out on X. No, that isn’t a slight towards the Blue Jackets organization. Laine is telling the truth; he is having fun playing the game he loves.

It is no secret that Laine has gotten a fair bit of criticism throughout his career.

But now that he is with the Canadiens and is more mentally prepared. He seems to be embracing the love and support from the fans. Which is just awesome to see.

Especially after a person has opened up about his personal struggles and gotten the help they need to enjoy life again.

You just love to see it!
