Lubo Moravcik lists Dubravka Celtic transfer credentials as icon backs stopper

Lubo Moravcik has listed the credentials Celtic target Martin Dubravka has that would make him a top signing at Parkhead.

The Newcastle goalkeeper has been linked with a summer switch as Brendan Rodgers seeks a replacement for Joe Hart who retired at the end of last season. Dubravka, 35, has significant experience at the top level in the Premier League and with Slovakia on the international stage where he played at the Euros last month.

Now icon Moravcik believes his countryman would be a solid acquisition for his old club as he offers knowledge and a level head who can play with both feet and make saves.

“If this is a possibility, I have absolutely no doubts that Martin has the qualities required to play for Celtic,” he told the Sunday Post. “He is in his mid-thirties and has great experience from playing in the English Premier League and for his country. I was in Germany at the Euros to support my country and Martin was brilliant.

“He is tall, makes important saves and is comfortable with right foot and left foot. He makes good judgments on the park and gives the team proper security.

“I also believe Martin would have no problem coping with the pressure of playing for Celtic. We are talking about a highly experienced professional. The chance to play for Celtic against Rangers and in the Champions League would be something that Martin would embrace and accept the challenge.

“If he wants to ask me about what it is like to play for Celtic then I would recommend it to him. I had four brilliant and memorable years at Celtic and it would be lovely to see another Slovakian play for the club. But we will need to wait and see what Brendan and the club decide to do.”

Sparta Prague goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen remains the main target between the sticks.
