Lyndon Dykes is irreplaceable for Scotland, admits Steve Clarke

Scotland manager Steve Clarke admitted Lyndon Dykes will be impossible to properly replace as he spoke for the first time about the devastating injury which ruled the striker out of Euro 2024.

Clarke is still weighing up whether to bring in another forward ahead of Saturday’s deadline to formally submit a 26-man tournament squad. Liverpool’s 18-year-old winger Ben Doak may make his international debut off the bench in tonight’s friendly against Gibraltar in Faro, Portugal. Clarke will give game time to several of the squad players before fielding a much stronger side against Finland at Hampden on Friday.
