Jack had planned to go kayaking or swimming in the area but hadn’t been in contact with anyone since, sparking fears for his safety.

A major search was launched after he was reported missing.

Police said they were growing “increasingly concerned” for Jack and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

Anyone who was around the reservoir yesterday has been urged to think back if they saw Jack or anything that could help find him.

Local officers gave out a description of the missing kayaker to help bring forward any new leads.

But police have since confirmed Jack has been found.

A police spokesperson said: “Jack Gibson, 24, who was reported missing from Caldercruix, Airdrie has been traced.”
