Man ‘stabbed in face’ at Scots gym as cops arrest suspect

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after allegedly being stabbed at a gym in Grangemouth.

Mercy crews, including four ambulances and numerous police vehicles, locked down the town’s Sports Complex on Abbots Road, shortly after 12pm this afternoon.

It’s understood a man, 40, was allegedly attacked with a bladed article and sustained an injury to his face.

Eyewitness reported seeing him being wheeled into an ambulance surrounded by medics and cops.

The man’s condition remains unknown.

He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment.

In a statement, Falkirk Council said: “Due to an earlier Police incident, we have temporarily closed the gym at Grangemouth Sports Complex until further notice.”

Officers have confirmed that a 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.

They added that enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.15pm on Wednesday, 27 September, 2023, we were called to a report of an assault in the Abbots Road area of Grangemouth.

“Emergency services attended and a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“A 54-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
