I’m delighted to be coming into homes across Scotland on Hogmanay and what a show we’ve got for you with Get the Tunes On. We’re hitting the right time of night at 10pm when you are seriously getting into countdown mode and I like to think we’ve compiled the ultimate party playlist for the build-up to the bells.
I’m over the moon about having the chance to present this show and bring some musical memories flooding back to get you singing, dancing and laughing. I don’t want to give too much away, but in Get the Tunes On I’ll be featuring big hits, wee gems, dance bangers, traditional tracks, archive treasures, spoofs, send-ups and singalongs. There’s going to be an essential selection of class acts, famous faces with tunes and stories. It is my music mix to get the party started.
After that, BBC One Scotland will be delivering more laughs with sketch show Queen of the New Year, written by and starring Greg Hemphill and Robert Florence, as well as some other amazing performers, mixing the best influences of Still Game, Burnistoun and The Scotts into one amazing comedy cocktail. Queen of the New Year will be poking fun and taking potshots at the news and gossip of the last twelve months.
There’s more comedy on the BBC Scotland channel earlier in the evening with Scotland Stands Up. Hosting it is everyone’s favourite farmer/comedian Jim Smith and some rising stars of comedy you need to check out. Also on the BBC Scotland channel, Amy Irons nudges towards the big event in Not Quite End of the Year Show.
Then it is the big event with Edith Bowman on Hogmanay 2023 on BBC One Scotland, BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer with Brian Cox, Sharon Rooney, Mark Bonnar, Scott Tominay, KT Tunstall, Shereen Cutkelvin, Skerryvore and the Kinnaris Quintet – what a line up.
Happy Hogmanay!
