The Tartan Army descended on Glasgow and Edinburgh airports as footie fever took a grip and hopes grew of making history with a result against the hosts on Friday.

And after the 900-mile journey, dozens of kilt-clad Scots were treated to a version of the much-loved classic.

The lively fans joined in as Wellerman hitmaker Nathan, 29, strummed his guitar to the patriotic folk ballad.

A sea of supporters sporting novelty Jimmy hats and swigging pints of beer belted out the beloved tune.

Bystanders stopped and whipped out their phones as they soaked up the atmosphere of the bustling beer terrace.

The crowd waved their arms at the Scots singer who was dressed in a black top and matching jeans with stylish sunglasses.

The songwriter, from Airdrie, shot to fame in 2020 after a video of him singing sea shanties went viral on TikTok.

He released a cover of the song the following year which shot to number one in the UK charts.
