Motherwell receive Theo Bair transfer offers – but not from Celtic or Rangers

Stuart Kettlewell has confirmed Motherwell have received offers for Theo Bair – but NOT from Celtic and Rangers.

The towering striker, 24, is off the back of an impressive season where he scored 15 goals for the Steelmen and that attracted a lot of interest. Both sides of the Old Firm have been tipped to make a move for him and there is also interest from down in England and in Europe.

Kettlewell admits he knows his club’s place in the food chain so there is not much they can do as soon as they are given an offer they or the player can’t refuse. That hasn’t happened yet but the Well boss says the offers have come from two of Europe’s top five leagues.

He said: “There’s been plenty of concrete interest in Theo. There’s been a couple of concrete bids from clubs in two of Europe’s top five leagues. I won’t name the clubs or countries but they have not been from inside Scotland.

“Theo’s out at the Copa America with Canada. But he’s a Motherwell player and has another year on his contract. He’s very much ours until someone puts something in front of us that we can’t refuse.

“We’ve loved working with him, we’d love that to continue. But sometimes that situation is outwith your control if somebody offers big money. We don’t cry about that. We replaced Kevin Van Veen pretty well last season, becoming third-highest scorers in the top flight. We’ve been crystal clear in our communication with the player, agent and other clubs.

“We bring players like Theo in to develop them and try to catch the attention of big clubs that have deep pockets. That’s how the wheel keeps turning for Motherwell.”
