About the QB

Jordan Love wasn’t practicing amid contract negotiations when I was there. What to expect now that he’s returned: more aggressive play-calling from Matt LaFleur, who admitted to me that he was too conservative entering last year.

Rookie to watch

Safety Evan Williams intercepted a pass in team drills two straight days. I expect he’ll nab more in the regular season thanks to his on-field communication, baseball background instincts and DC Jeff Hafley freeing DBs to “play with our hair on fire,” as he told me.

Keeping my eye on

The Packers’ receiver room. Team brass says this is the deepest room they’ve seen. Critics say they have no true No. 1. Will Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson or Dontayvion Wicks break out?

Fantasy thought

While 2022 rushing champion Josh Jacobs is sure to impress, don’t sleep on RB AJ Dillon. His offseason muscle and chisel have turned heads, LaFleur saying Dillon’s in “THE best shape” he’s seen.

What I saw that was interesting

Shifting to a four-man defensive front has allowed D-linemen like Rashan Gary to massively disrupt offensive flow. We’ll gauge more accurately when Love returns. But this D’s arrow is looking up.

Wild card

The skies opened on Green Bay’s Tuesday practice, soaking clothing, weighing down balls and more. Receivers held on to balls far more easily in Wednesday’s practice. But kudos to LaFleur for acclimating his team, including two young QBs, to the elements.
