Jeremiah Smith has done it again. The Ohio State freshman receiver snared a touchdown catch with one hand for the second consecutive week to give the Buckeyes’ a 14–0 lead over Iowa.

Smith caught the four-yard score with only his right hand while holding Hawkeyes cornerback Deshaun Lee off with his left.

The highlight catch finished off a nine-play, 86-yard drive on Ohio State’s first possession of the second half. Prior to his touchdown grab, Smith hauled in a 53-yard pass to get to the Iowa 4-yard line.

Last week against Michigan State, Smith made two one-handed catches against the same two Spartans defensive backs on Ohio State’s final drive before halftime.

The first one was a leaping 27-yard reception between two MSU defenders. The second grab went for a touchdown after Smith beat his defender at the line and dashed past him to reach out for a throw from quarterback Will Howard.

The second one-hander went for a Buckeyes touchdown and a 24-7 lead going into halftime. Devin Brown took over at QB after Howard took a hard hit from MSU linebacker Jordan Turner and fired a pass down the right sideline on third-and-10 from the Spartans’ 17-yard line.

Midway through the third quarter, Smith has three catches for 80 yards and a touchdown, along with a 14-yard rush. Ohio State leads Iowa, 28–0, after three quarters.
