Overnight travel gets simpler with launch of new website – Scottish Business News
CALEDONIAN Sleeper has launched a new website to make bookings easier and more accessible for leisure and business guests.
Having taken onboard feedback from guests and staff, Caledonian Sleeper worked with creative digital agency, Flipside, to create a new website with the aim of setting high standards of user-friendliness and accessibility.
Accessibility software firm Recite Me was also engaged by Caledonian Sleeper to enhance the website’s accessibility credentials. As a result, the company’s Sleeper.scot website now includes a multitude of additional features which cater to guests with additional needs.
In addition, richer detail has been included on all the destinations that Caledonian Sleeper calls at to help encourage visitors from south of the border and overseas to visit other parts of Scotland.
Steven Marshall, Head of Sales and Marketing at Caledonian Sleeper, commented: “I’m very proud that we’ve successfully created a new website which really showcases the great features of our iconic Caledonian Sleeper service and our route network. Not just for leisure trips but also for business travellers looking to switch to a more productive and sustainable mode of travel to and from London. What’s more, the streamlined layout and addition of ReciteMe software ensures a great user experience for all our guests.”
The new Sleeper.scot accessibility tab allows visitors to create a bespoke viewing experience by customising aspects such as background colour, font style, size and even language choice. The website also includes a dedicated page for business travellers, highlighting the advantages of choosing Sleeper services, while also offering extensive destination information from our largest stop to our smallest to really highlight all that can be experienced along Caledonian Sleeper’s route network.
Barney Evison, Managing Director of Flipside Group, Caledonian Sleeper’s digital agency partner said: “For train operators, a website must be more than just functional; it should serve as a seamless gateway to the travel experience. When designing the new website for Caledonian Sleeper, we focused on highlighting the service’s unique travel benefits while delivering a smooth and engaging online experience.”
Users can also get a taste of what it is like onboard the Caledonian Sleeper, with the introduction of virtual room tours using Matterport 360-degree technology. The inclusion of larger, enhanced images also provides online users with a clearer understanding of the train layout, from the club car to the bedrooms and the seated coaches.
Ross Linnett, CEO and Founder of Recite Me, said: “Recite Me’s inclusive software provides everyone with the option to customise their online experience to suit individual needs. Our easy-to-use toolbar on the Caledonian Sleeper website has a range of features to support passengers to research journeys, buy tickets and check timetables online.”
