Penguins Stay Grounded on Saturday
They say that penguins can’t fly, and that couldn’t be truer today as the Pittsburgh Penguins did not travel to Detroit to play the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday Night.
Ahead of their Kraft Hockeyville contest against the Ottawa Senators in Sudbury, ON, on Sunday, the Penguins were set to continue their pre-season schedule with a tilt against the Red Wings.
However, mechanical issues with their plane kept the Penguins grounded.
Even though their Saturday night plans were canceled, the team has not announced travel plans to Ontario on Sunday. Considering the game is more than 24 hours away, the club has plenty of time to find alternative arrangements.
Because this contest was only a pre-season game, there’s a chance that it will not be made up later, which means instead of playing seven games, they will now only play six.
Either way, the two teams will meet in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night and play in Detroit on the second night of the regular season on October 10.
