Persimmon West Scotland hands over new homes to Sanctuary Scotland

Nineteen high-quality new homes will help people in housing need in a Lanarkshire town as a house-builder handed over the first seven properties.

The homes form part of Persimmon’s Royale Meadows development in Muirhead and have now been transferred to Sanctuary Scotland, one of the country’s leading housing associations, who will manage the mixture of two and three-bedroom properties.

Persimmon West Scotland land director Craig Moore, met with Gillian Lavety, development director from Sanctuary Scotland, to mark the first homes being transferred to the Housing Association.

Over the course of the Royale Meadows development, a total of 44 new homes will be transferred to Sanctuary Scotland to help alleviate North Lanarkshire’s 12,000-strong housing waiting list.

Craig Moore told Lanarkshire Live: “These initial nineteen high-quality, energy-efficient new homes show the benefits of working in partnership to increase the supply of housing for local people across a variety of tenures.

“As well as the homes that have now been handed over to Sanctuary Scotland, the price of our homes for sale is typically 20 per cent below the average price of a new build in Scotland, creating more affordable routes to home ownership for families in North Lanarkshire.

“We’ll continue to work closely with our local partners to ensure our investment in the local area makes a positive and lasting difference to communities across North Lanarkshire.”
