MANGALURU: Indian police work harder and functions more effectively than Scotland Yard Police. What makes difference between Indian police and their Scotland Yard counterparts is the cooperation the famed UK police receive from people, which is absent in India. Moreover, Indians also lack the courtesy to abide by the law, rued Daya Nayak, police sub-inspector, Mumbai Police, better known as ‘Encounter Specialist’ for his exploits in eliminating the underworld.

Inaugurating Rostrum – Speakers’ Club at Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology at Mijar near here on Tuesday, Daya Nayak dwelling on ‘Crime, Youth and Society’ said police is responsible for maintaining law and order and citizens are equally responsible to co-operate with the department and follow the law. It is globally accepted that Scotland Yard cops are most effective police force in the world and it is for because of people’s cooperation, he noted.

On his chequered career, he said, “If I am getting punishment for doing good work, I will not go back from doing that. If I am found guilty, law will punish me.”

Even after more than 70 years of Indian Independence, the Police Act has still not been amended. We still follow the outdated Police Act, he lamented.
