Red Wings Goalie Prospect Breaks Jack Campbell Record
It’s not every day that your team has a goalie breaking records.
Luckily for Detroit Red Wings fans, that is the case.
With the 2025 World Junior Championship winding down today, one Red Wings prospect stands out among all the other teams. Goaltender Trey Augustine is putting a bow on a great performance this year and in his entire World Junior career.
Last night, USA beat Czechia 4-1 to advance to the Gold Medal game for the second consecutive season. Offensively, Gabe Perreault and Ryan Leonard led the way for Team USA with two points each.
And again, Trey Augustine was solid in the net for the Americans.
The Red Wings prospect stopped 26 of 27 shots, winning his third game of the tournament.
He’s won 11 games in his World Junior career, beating out Jack Campbell’s record.
Augustine has a lifetime record of 11-0-1-1 and a save percentage of .916. In this year’s tournament, he has a 2.48 goals against average (GAA) and a .924 save percentage (SV%).
This only adds to Augustine’s impressive season. In 14 NCAA games this season, he has a record of 11-2-1. Additionally, he has a 1.98 GAA, a .930 SV%, and two shutouts.
It’s also a small hockey world moment for a current Red Wings prospect to break the record of a goaltender who signed with the Red Wings organization this past summer (Campbell).
Between Augustine and Sebastian Cossa, the future of the Red Wings net is bright.
