Remote Scottish island job with accommodation offers chance to escape rat race

An amazing opportunity to move to an idyllic Scottish island for work has come up.

The Dark Island Hotel on the Isle of Benbecula is currently hiring multiple bar team members, and live-in accommodation is included. The hotel, which is situated on the southern coast of the Outer Hebrides island, is just a stone’s throw from the peaceful and picturesque Liniclate Beach.

Home to around just 1,200 people, Benbecula is the perfect destination for those looking to escape the rat race and live a simpler existence. The island, which is linked by causeways to the nearby isles of North and South Uist, is beloved amongst locals for its picture-perfect , tranquil moorland, and the small lochs dotted all around.

A total of two positions at the Dark Island Hotel are available on a fixed-term six-month basis. However, according to the Indeed job listing, full-time employment may also be available “subject to satisfactory performance and probation period”.

While the salary is listed as £12 per hour, the posting states that it will depend on experience and that the hotel “embraces Real Living Wage criteria”. The successful applicants will also receive tips as an additional source of pay.

The roles themselves will involve around 45 hours of work per week. According to the listing, the hotel “actively supports a positive home/work life balance”, so there should be plenty of time to explore Benbecula’s stunning surroundings when not on-shift.
