Ridvan Yilmaz Rangers transfer future addressed amid Jefte challenge

Rangers plan to keep hold of Ridvan Yilmaz despite continued transfer interest in the defender.

The left-back had a number of suitors, particularly from Turkey, back in the January window and was reported to have been considering his options. Moves to Galatasaray and Besiktas were mooted but never materialised and the player wound up making 34 appearances in all competitions. Now Football Scotland understands that the plan for the player is to stay at Ibrox beyond this summer and compete for the starting spot after Borna Barisic departed.




Brazilian full-back Jefte arrived earlier this summer and the 23-year-old will do battle with the new signing to play under manager Philippe Clement next term.

It comes as one player appeared to confirm he’d be on the lookout for a new club. Gers’ attacker Ianis Hagi has been on loan at Alaves and does not expect to return to Glasgow permanently after instructing his representatives to find him a new side.

Rangers, in general, are believed to be open to offers for most of their squad as Clement looks to perform a major overhaul.
