Robert Snodgrass BOOED at Open Goal live show by furious Hydro crowd
Scotland hero Robert Snodgrass was showered in BOOS by the crowd during Open Goal’s live show at the OVO Hydro.
James McFadden, Gordon Strachan and Snodgrass joined the regular panel of Si Ferry, Paul Slane, Kevin Kyle and Andy Halliday in Glasgow – with the show billed as a pre-tournament warm-up for The Tartan Army before Steve Clarke’s side head off to Euro 2024. Current Scotland squad stars Lyndon Dykes and Ryan Porteous also made an appearance on stage – but it was Snodgrass who has dominated the talking points following the show.
On one clip circulating on social media, host Ferry can be heard pleading with the crowd “give him two minutes” while the boos ring out as the former West Ham and Hearts star attempted to tell a story about Leigh Griffiths. Fellow Open Goal stalwart Paul Slane can be heard shouting back at the crowd: “What is up with yous?”
In an attempt to calm the crowd and finish his story, Snodgrass joked: “Tough crowd tonight. I thought you were all from Glasgow? I’m from Glasgow.” Responding to the clip, one punter sarcastically added on X: “Aye that Griffiths prank sounded unreal man.”
On social media, one fan noted that sections of the crowd turned when he claimed that Hearts boss Steven Naismith was the worst player he played with at Scotland. Another brutally put it on social media “Snodgrass goes down in history as the worst person to take the stage at the Hydro.”
A Hearts fans added: “Obviously still bitter about Naisy punting him.” Another Open Goal attendee chimed in: “OMG … Snodgrass … absolutely bombed, surely you would have a plan B.”
