PATIALA: Sangrur based Chahat Sekhon has joined the Civil services in United Kingdom. Daughter of an advocate, Chahat is serving as an Economist in finance department of Scottish government. Just after she earned a degree in M.Sc. economics and finance from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland in 2018, Chahat appeared in the civil services exams of UK



Chahat’s father Kiranjeet Singh Sekhon an advocate, said, “She is a first girl from Punjab to join the civil services in UK. After successfully clearing the written exams and the final interview, she was overjoyed when she was declared a successful candidate.”

She has joined her services in end of January this year. She had completed her school education from nursery to 10th class from Bachpan English School, Sangrur while she cleared her +2 exam from Lawrence School, Sanawar. She did graduation with Economics Honours from Government College for Women Sector 11 Chandigarh. Chahat also did her M.A. in Economics with First Division from Punjab University Chandigarh.

In 2017 Chahat went to the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (UK) to study M.Sc.(Economics and Finance). From there she prepared, appeared and cleared her civil services exam of United Kingdom and got selected as a civil servant with UK government.

“We are proud of her achievements and said that their daughter chahat has always been a sober caring person with the finest virtues and has developed a very positive and progressive attitude towards life and society.”added, Kiranjeet Singh.
