Scotland election live: Labour gains from SNP in first Scottish seats declared

Two huge cheers for the Glasgow South result – and
arguably the loudest was for the Scottish Greens candidate Niall Christie, who
got more than 5,000 votes.
But the seat was won by 29-year-old Scottish Labour
candidate Gordon McKee who received some 17,600 – about 4,000 votes clear of
the SNP candidate Stewart McDonald.
Mr McKee formerly worked for Edinburgh Labour MP Ian
Murray.
“The country is going to wake up to a Labour government
with Scottish Labour MPs at its very heart,” he tells BBC Scotland.
This seat received the largest turnout in Glasgow, with
60.56% of the electorate returning ballot papers.
Labour has now taken three of the six Glasgow seats.
