Scotland’s best fish and chip shops revealed in annual awards
SCOTLAND’s best fish and chip shops have been revealed at a prestigious award.
The annual Fry Awards this year dished out the best 10 restaurants across the UK and the best 50 takeaways.
The Scottish eateries commended by the chippy trade publication Fry Magazine ranged from coast to coast of the country.
Nine of Scotland‘s fish and chip takeaways made the top 50 list beating last year by two more.
Anstruther’s The Wee Chippy in Fife was named as one of the top 10 restaurants in the UK.
While the nine takeaways included the Anstruther Fish bar, Garioch Fish Bar in Inverurure, Mike’s Famous Fish and Chips in Blackburn, Moore’s Fish and Chip Shop in Castle Douglas and Redcloak Fish Bar in Stonehaven.
It also listed The Cafe Royal in Annan, The Fish Works in Largs, Ayrshire, The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum and The Wee Chippy also made the prestigious list.
Mystery judges awarded the eateries with a variety of marks from food to cleanliness and overall dining experience.
Judges inspected the restaurants or takeaways during unannounced visits.
