Scots bakery wins global award less than year after opening – see full list

A Scottish bakery has received a top global award less than a year after opening its doors.

The top bakeries and patisseries around the globe have been revealed as part of the Pastry Awards 2024. The list, which includes 3,000 businesses, celebrates the “crème de la crème” of pastry shops, bakeries, coffee shops, afternoon teas, dessert restaurants in more than 80 countries.

In addition to the prestigious list, 25 patisseries and bakeries in particular were recognised within 10 special categories. Lannan Bakery in Edinburgh was one of those singled out, being among the recipients of the Pastry Opening of the Year Award.

LA LISTE described Lannan Bakery, which first opened to the public in July 2023, as having a “sellout debut opening known for seasonal concepts like the Lannan Apple Pie and Custard”. As reported by the Daily Record, the Stockbridge bakery has recently gone viral on social media as a result of its lengthy queues.

Meanwhile, 23 other Scottish bakeries and patisseries were also recognised as part of the Pastry Awards. Other Edinburgh businesses to receive a mention include Hobz Bakery, La Barantine, The Palmerston, The Pastry Section, and Twelve Triangles.

Elsewhere, six Glasgow bakeries also feature on the list. Cottonrake Bakery, kaf Coffee, Outlier 38, Partenope, The bakery by Zique, and Two.Eight.Seven in Scotland’s largest city all got a mention.
