Scots town with ‘golden beaches’ and ‘soothing’ hotel spa named top seaside spot

A scenic Scottish destination has been named one of the country’s “best seaside towns to visit this year”.

While the weather in Scotland will forever remain unpredictable, it is a safe bet that we will get at least a few days of sunshine and warmth this summer. With the start of June just around the corner, we are officially entering peak staycation season.

It can be easy to get overwhelmed with all of the holiday destinations in Scotland, since there are simply too many idyllic spots around the country. If you are looking for inspiration, Hotel Magazine has just named Nairn among the top towns in Scotland for a seaside escape.

An ancient fishing port and market town, located around 17 miles out of Inverness, Nairn is one of the sunniest and driest destinations in the country. That alone makes it worth a visit this summer, but the town has a lot more to offer.

From its spectacular beaches to its fascinating museum with a children’s play area, there is something for everyone in Nairn. Meanwhile, in terms of places to stay, Hotel Magazine singled out the “soothing haven” Golf View Hotel that is home to an outdoor hot tub and a stone bath.

The Hotel Magazine website reads: “Situated on the stunning Moray Firth coast, the historic town of Nairn is the perfect place for those looking for a peaceful escape this summer. The town boasts beautiful stretches of golden, sandy beaches that are ideal for long walks, picnics or simply relaxing and soaking up the sun.”

Commenting on the Golf View Hotel, the magazine added: “This soothing haven gives guests the opportunity to relax in an outdoor hot tub, or indulge in the indoor pool, sauna, steam room and Stone Bath. What’s more, the spa’s team of expert therapists will personalise your spa experience to suit your wants and needs, with treatments complete with luxurious ishga spa products.”

It is easy to see why the Hotel Magazine singled out the Golf View Hotel in particular as a top place to stay in Nairn. Situated in a picturesque seafront setting, the hotel features soothing guest rooms, a stylish bar, and a restaurant that serves up mouthwatering scallops, lobster, langoustines, and sea bass. Just outside of town lies the picturesque Cawdor Castle, which is well worth a visit — especially if you are a William Shakespeare fan. The 15th-century tower house is famous for its literary connection to Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, in which the title character is made ‘Thane of Cawdor’. Meanwhile, its three stunning gardens are best enjoyed when the sun is shining.
