Scottie Scheffler to miss PGA Tour’s season-opening tournament, The Sentry, with hand injury

Scottie Scheffler will miss the PGA Tour’s 2025 season-opening tournament, The Sentry in Maui, after suffering a puncture wound to his right hand from a broken glass on Christmas Day. The injury will sideline him for three to four weeks.

Scheffler’s agent, Blake Smith, broke the news in a statement issued through the PGA Tour.

“On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” the statement said. “Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express.”

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
