Scottish residents evacuated after car ploughs into home with police at scene

Residents in a Scottish town have been evacuated after a car smashed into a home.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to Craig Leith Avenue in Inverkeithing at around 6pm on Tuesday after the incident. Officers, fire crews and two fire engines were in attendance.




An emergency team from Scottish Gas was also on hand to assess the damage. Images from the Daily Record show a blue vehicle that had collided with the new build.

As a precaution five properties were evacuated. Essential safety checks continue to be carried out.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received reports of an incident on Monday, May 28 at 17:58 and sent two appliances to the scene. The appliances left at 19:27.”

A spokesperson for Fife Council confirmed to the Record that five properties were evacuated as a precaution. Residents are now back in their homes and an emergency evacuation centre was set up as a precaution but it wasn’t needed.
