Scottish sports journalist Ewing Grahame dies ‘suddenly’

Tributes have been paid to Scottish sports journalist Ewing Grahame following his “sudden” death.

The Scottish Football Writers Association said it was “deeply saddened” to learn of the passing of the 64-year-old football journalist on Thursday.

The association said Grahame will be honoured at an annual awards dinner on Sunday.

A regular contributor to the Sunday Times, he worked for The Sun and the Daily Record and was chief football writer for The Herald for two years.

Grahame started his career in journalism as a teenager with the Sunday Post in Edinburgh in 1977.

He also covered boxing title fights in Las Vegas, New York, Atlantic City, London and Paris.

The SFWA said: “The SFWA Committee were deeply saddened today to learn of the sudden passing of Ewing Grahame.

“We send our condolences to Ewing’s family and the SFWA will pay tribute to him at Sunday’s annual awards dinner.

“The Committee will update members on funeral arrangements in due course.”
