Scottish teen charged after garage blaze as fire crews tackle widespread chaos
A teenager has been charged in connection with a blaze that engulfed garages in a Scottish town.
Fire crews were called to a housing estate in Glenrothes, after a row of 13 garages were found up in flames at around 9.30pm on Monday. Footage from the Daily Record shows the raging inferno burning.
Massive flames were seen above homes in the area, with a number of cars destroyed. On Wednesday, police confirmed a 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: “Around 9.30pm on Monday, 8 July, 2024 officers were called to a fire at a premises on Hill View, Glenrothes.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and no one was injured. A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the relevant authority.”
It comes as the area was embroiled in two nights of mayhem as cars and a caravan were also torched in unrelated incidents. Cops were called to Balbirnie car park in the early hours of Sunday when a burning motor was discovered at Newton Street.
The wrecked vehicle was found dumped at the beauty spot with the windows blown out. Police confirmed it was being treated as deliberate but not linked to the Hill View incident.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also called to a caravan ablaze in Collydean Way at around 10.47pm. Crews battled the flames for under an hour before the fire was extinguished.
