Scottish tourism hits record high

1. Scotland has welcomed its highest number of international tourists, according to official data.

The Office for National Statistics showed that more than 3.9 million people visited from overseas in 2023.

That was better than the previous peak of 3.7 million, achieved in 2018, and the 2022 figure of 3.2 million.

The International Passenger Survey also found spending was up 41 per cent to £3.5 billion last year when compared with £2.5 billion before the pandemic in 2019.
