Seider & Raymond Stay Un-Signed, Traverse City Look Ahead: The Silky Mitten State Episode 38

The latest episode of The Silky Mitten State is live!

It wasn’t a busy week around hockey in the great state of Michigan, but we cover all of what little there is. We get started with a contrived Axel Sandin-Pellikka vs. Lane Hutson debate, considering the relative merits of the two diminutive Atlantic Division offensive defensemen prospects. From there, we move into another conversation about Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond. Specifically, we chew on Elliotte Friedman’s suggestion that Seider will wind up with the more lucrative contract than Raymond. We then move into a preview of this weekend’s action in Traverse City for the Red Wings‘ prospect games against Dallas.

After that, we pivot into a conversation around a couple of lingering roster questions for Detroit. First, we wonder about whether Erik Gustafsson or Moritz Seider will handle the quarterbacking duties on the first power play, then we consider the Red Wings’ goaltending rotation. In the former case, we see an abundance of credible options, with lots of room to allow the season to play out as it may. In the latter, there are some intriguing questions to answer, such as Ville Husso‘s role to play and the possibility of Sebastian Cossa debuting in the NHL. Finally, we wrap the show by chatting about PTOs signed around the league, touching on some that excite us and others that confuse us.
